THE UNKNOWN (MGM-1927)
Director/writer: Tod Browning. Cast: Lon Chaney (Alonzo), Joan Crawford (Nano), Norman Kerry (Malabar, Circus Strongman).

Released in 1927, “The Unknown” is one of the last of the great studio-made silent films as sound came to the industry just three months later with the release of Al Jolson in “The Jazz Singer.” This film, considered the most unique of the eight films that Tod Browning and Lon Chaney made together at MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) studios in the late silent era. A superb mystery thriller, unusual and startling even for a Chaney film. Lon as "The Unknown" eats, drinks, shoots a rifle and dresses with his feet.

The second portion is an episode of the radio program "Suspense" entitled "Fugue in C Minor", with Dennis James on the Mighty Wurlitzer and a live troupe of actors performing the original radio script.
